Went to the VA Hospital today partly for photography, and partly so my roomate could take her new dog, Zoe out to get her more acclimatized to new surroundings. She’s going to be a service animal once she completes her training.
I was struck by how visually interesting the old buildings could be next to the new modern facilities, but also saddened to see the kinds of places set aside to help our veterans. I realize with the new modern wings being built that they are trying to update things, but the general appearance of the place definitely leaves a less than cheery feeling as you wander around.
From the peeling paint on most of the older buildings to the ancient equipment just shoved to the side or discarded on patios, it shows the real government at work. All shiny in the front, but don’t go checking the backyard.
